“As an Administrator, she has guided the Coroner’s Office to certification by the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME). This is a very difficult certification to attain, but with her leadership and direction, this was accomplished, placing this office in the highest level of quality in the country.”
The undersigned, a Forensic Pathologist in the Ada County Coroner’s Office, is writing this letter in support of Dotti Owens for Coroner of Ada County. I have worked with Dotti over the past few years in her capacity as Coroner of Ada County. I have also worked with her in past years when she was an investigator for the Ada County Coroner’s Office. Through these years, I have been able to observe her abilities in both investigation and administration. As an Investigator, she was impeccable in her ability to provide all the information required in the evaluation of a case. This was extremely important for my determination in cases for which I was responsible and their outcomes. Without that investigative information, Forensics Pathologist would not be able to definitively conclude his/her findings.
With her background and experience as an investigator, she was able to move into the on as Coroner with no difficulty. As an Administrator, she has guided the Coroner’s Office to certification by the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME). This is a very difficult certification to attain, but with her leadership and direction, this was accomplished, placing this office in the highest level of quality in the country. Her administrative abilities also include the leadership of the employees, their training and the improvement of the knowledge required for the work performed in the Coroner’s Office. She has assembled an office staff that is second to none and is comparable to any major Coroner or Medical Examiner in the country.
As Physicians and Forensic Pathologists, she is supportive of our practice and assists in all ways in the accomplishment of our duties in both Ada County and the rest of the state for whom we provide necessary services. It is important to recognize the Office of the Coroner needs the long term stability and continuity for proper and competent running of the Office.
As a leader, an administrator, an investigator and finally as an outstanding Coroner, it is apparent that her qualifications and credentials make her, without questions, the most capable and competent individual in the state to be Coroner. I must, therefore, strongly support and endorse her reelection as Coroner of Ada County.
